Description
Lovely ‘banjo’ style vintage barometer by Short and Mason of England (1875 – 1969). Short and Mason were established in 1875 by Thomas Short and James Mason. They made and sold barographs, aneroid barometers, compasses and aviation instruments such as altimeters, indicators and gauges. They traded in Hatton Garden, then subsequently in Walthamstow, until they merged with the American company Taylor Instrument Companies in 1967.
This barometer gives three measurements : humidity, atmospheric pressure and temperature. Humidity is measured in percentage, atmospheric pressure in Millibars and Inches of Mercury, and temperature in Farenheit and Celsius.
The faces of the instruments are finished in brushed aluminium and surrounded with a brass bevel, the body is a dark wood and the barometer is finished off with a silver finial.
Measures 67cm high by 17cm at its widest.
