Stunning vintage Scandinavian candleholder in aluminium and copper.
The stylised design of this piece suggests a Scandinavian origin, but the figure is wearing a traditional sarafan, or pinafore dress which together with the headdress or kokoshnik suggests this costume comes from the northwestern region of Russia, probably the Archangelsk area.
The candleholder has the patina of age and is in excellent condition. It has a makers mark on the back which I have not been able to identify. This is a striking, unusual and rare piece.
Measures 30cm high, 25cm at its widest and 9cm deep.
