Description
Beautiful multicoloured hand-blown Murano glass vase.
Murano is a series of islands linked by bridges in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy. Murano’s reputation as a centre for glassmaking was born when the Venetian Republic, fearing fire and the destruction of the city’s mostly wooden buildings, ordered glassmakers to move their furnaces to Murano in 1291. Murano glass is still associated with Venetian glass.
This striking vase dates from the 1960s and stands an impressive 33cm high and measures 12 cm at its widest point.
In perfect condition with no chips or cracks.
